Legal Counsel – Litigation

About the role

Lennar is seeking an early‑career Legal Counsel focused on litigation to provide foundational legal support across multiple divisions and state jurisdictions. The role involves handling pre‑litigation and minor litigation matters, conducting legal research, and partnering with business teams to resolve routine issues while developing legal judgment under senior guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to inbound claims and demands, including subrogation, subpoenas, and UCC lien claims.
• Work with divisions and the Risk department to resolve escalated customer‑care matters.
• Handle deposit disputes, trade‑partner disputes, and mechanic’s liens, facilitating communication and settlement.
• Oversee small‑claims cases, prepare witnesses, and represent Lennar in court.
• Manage external law firms on routine, lower‑risk matters to ensure cost‑efficient support.
• Respond to Contractor’s License Board and DRE complaints, coordinating with regulatory agencies.
• Perform legal research, draft memoranda, and provide recommendations for senior attorneys.
• Maintain accurate matter documentation and identify emerging legal risks.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in the United States.
• 0‑5 years of legal experience with a strong litigation background.
• Experience in insurance defense or bodily‑injury claims preferred.
• Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and communication abilities.
