Lead Software Engineer (.NET)

About the role

Social Discovery Group is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the transformation of a legacy monolith into a modern micro‑services architecture. This fully remote, full‑time position reports to product and architecture teams and provides technical leadership across the stack.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end delivery of monolith‑to‑microservices modernization, from analysis to production release.
• Partner with Product and Architecture to review specifications, map legacy dependencies and create realistic estimates.
• Guide architectural decisions for .NET Core services, databases and frontend integrations, handling complex backend, data migration and production incidents.
• Improve day‑to‑day team processes: tighter Jira task tracking, accurate estimation, and rapid QA feedback loops.
• Conduct regular 1‑on‑1s focused on career goals and drive continuous feedback and process improvements.

Required profile

• Strong .NET engineering background with deep expertise in C#.NET 8 and ASP.NET Core.
• Solid understanding of web application architecture, REST APIs, microservices patterns, message brokers and database design.
• Hands‑on experience modernizing legacy systems, refactoring monorepos to microservices and using Docker/Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to act as technical escalation point for complex implementation, data migration or performance issues.
• Experience managing engineering teams, including 1‑on‑1s, performance reviews and objective evaluations.
