Lead Data Scientist

About the role

Cohere is building foundational AI infrastructure and needs a Lead Data Scientist on its Analytics and Data Insights team. You will shape go‑to‑market strategy, design experiments, and help enterprises understand AI’s impact on their bottom line.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead experimentation programs such as A/B tests, multi‑armed bandits, and causal inference studies that inform product and go‑to‑market decisions.
• Develop and deploy predictive models for forecasting, segmentation, propensity scoring, and opportunity sizing across core business lines.
• Manage and mentor a team of analysts and data scientists, setting technical standards and fostering high performance.
• Define analytical priorities, allocate resources, and drive initiatives from concept to production.
• Partner with product, research, sales, and finance to shape Cohere’s growth strategy and embed data insights into products.

Required profile

• Strong command of SQL, Python, and Git, with deep expertise in statistical inference, experimental design, and predictive modeling.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous business questions into rigorous analytical problems and deliver clear recommendations.
• Experience leading analytics or data‑science teams and making data‑driven decisions faster.
• Genuine excitement about AI and familiarity with modern data‑stack tools (e.g., BigQuery, dbt, Looker, Airflow).
• Comfort operating in ambiguity, managing complex roadmaps, and communicating insights concisely.
