IT Onsite Support & Locksmith Technician

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking an IT Onsite Support Intermediate‑Locksmith Technician to maintain and troubleshoot electronic and mechanical lock systems across its facilities. This position combines technical IT support with hands‑on locksmith duties, ensuring secure and functional access control for staff, patients, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily operations of the security office, providing timely troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical lock hardware.
• Install, configure, and maintain door access control systems, mechanical locks, keypads, Wi‑Fi locks, and related hardware.
• Respond to lock failures, isolate issues, repair hardware or software, and adjust configurations to restore full functionality.
• Process key requests, issue keys, and keep the Simple K key management software up to date.
• Plan, design, and implement new key and locking systems for remodels or new construction projects.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, providing emergency support as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; associate, bachelor’s, or postgraduate degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience with low‑voltage cabling, carpentry/building maintenance, mechanical/electronic lock systems, and locksmithing.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work on‑call, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
