About the role
The Instrument Technician I provides essential support to the Perioperative Services Instrument Processing Department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Working in a fast‑paced clinical environment, the technician ensures that surgical instruments are cleaned, inspected, assembled, and ready for patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments following established protocols.
- Inspect instruments for functionality and integrity, performing minor repairs or reporting defects.
- Assemble instrument sets according to surgical case requirements and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Document processing activities in the department’s tracking system and adhere to infection‑control standards.
- Collaborate with nursing, surgical, and maintenance staff to resolve instrument‑related issues promptly.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedural guidelines.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with clinical teams.
