About the role

HEI, a leading civil construction firm operating across Arizona, the Carolinas, Colorado and Texas, is seeking experienced Pipe Installers (Pipelayers) to join its on‑site teams. You will play a critical part in delivering road, bridge, water‑infrastructure and environmental restoration projects, ensuring that underground pipe systems are installed safely, accurately and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Set and verify levels and elevations using flow lines, level rods, string lines, levels or lasers.
• Connect bell‑and‑spigot pipe sections and install water, storm‑water and sewer lines.
• Backfill pipe trenches with aggregate and native material, then compact to required density.
• Manually excavate test pits to locate existing utilities.
• Prepare trench bases using compactors and hand tools.
• Install and repair pipe structures within shoring systems.
• Trace pipe routes from written instructions or drawings and coordinate with supervisors.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures to prevent unsafe actions.
• Support foreman instructions and assist crew members as needed.

Required profile

• General knowledge of underground utility work, materials, methods and tools.
• Proven ability to perform similar tasks safely and accurately.
• Physical capability to lift and carry at least 60 lb repeatedly.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Required skills

• Pipe laying and connection techniques.
• Use of laser levels and traditional leveling equipment.
• Operation of compactors and hand excavation tools.
• Installation of water, storm‑water and sewer pipe systems.
