About the role

HEI is seeking an experienced Pipe Installation Topman to join its civil construction teams across the United States. You will work on a variety of underground infrastructure projects, ensuring that water, storm‑water and sewer pipelines are installed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Establish correct levels and elevations using flow lines, level rods, string lines, and laser equipment.
• Verify slopes and grade compliance with leveling tools or lasers.
• Connect bell‑and‑spigot pipe sections and install water and sewer lines.
• Backfill pipes with aggregate and native material, then compact to required density.
• Excavate manually to locate existing utilities and confirm pipe placement.
• Prepare and level trench bases using compactors and hand tools.
• Install and repair water, storm‑water, and sewer pipe systems within shored trenches.
• Follow written plans or drawings to trace pipe routes and coordinate with supervisors.
• Enforce all safety policies and OSHA regulations to prevent unsafe actions.
• Follow foreman instructions, support crew members, and maintain punctual attendance.

Required profile

• General knowledge of underground utility work, including materials, methods and tools.
• Proven record of performing similar tasks safely and accurately.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of relevant experience preferred, but not mandatory.
