Inpatient Pharmacy Technician – VA Medical Center

About the role

Dynamic Planning & Response is seeking a PTCB‑certified Pharmacy Technician to work in the inpatient pharmacy of a VA Medical Center. The position is full‑time with rotating shift hours and involves direct medication preparation and patient support.

Key responsibilities

• Process, fill, and deliver inpatient medication orders and outpatient prescriptions for the assigned section.
• Utilize VA computer applications, including the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (Vista) and pharmacy automation, to complete daily functions.
• Prepare sterile intravenous (IV) medications, including chemotherapy and hazardous agents, following USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines.
• Maintain medication stock, handle outdated or recalled drugs, and ensure proper storage.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, caregivers, and visitors.

Required profile

• At least one year of inpatient pharmacy experience (preferred) or retail pharmacy experience.
• PTCB certification and proof of U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to pass a TB test and basic physical exam, including standing, walking 8 hours a day and lifting up to 30 lb.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Required skills

• PTCB certification.
• Experience with Vista (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture) and pharmacy automation systems.
• IV medication preparation, including chemotherapy and hazardous agents.
• Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 sterile compounding standards.
