HR & Payroll Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Specialist to support a fast‑growing international organization. The role focuses on managing payroll, HR operations, and employee benefits across the United States and Canada while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Process multi‑state payroll, including variable compensation, stock payments, tax deposits and adjustments.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, local and Canadian payroll regulations.
• Administer HR operations such as onboarding, employee records, benefits enrollment and policy implementation.
• Serve as primary contact for employee inquiries on payroll, compensation, benefits and HR policies.
• Manage relationships with external payroll providers, benefits brokers and HR vendors.
• Oversee healthcare, retirement and leave administration programs, including open enrollment communications.
• Support audits, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with global HR and finance teams to align people‑operations practices.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in payroll and HR operations with strong U.S. and Canadian expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or a related field.
• Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CPP, CPM, PHR, CPHR).
• In‑depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance and labor laws in both countries.
• Experience managing benefits, retirement plans and leave programs.
