Handbag Designer – Luxury Fashion

About the role

The Handbag Designer will create elevated commercial fashion accessories, reporting to the SVP of Handbags and collaborating closely with the Design Director and creative teams. This role supports the wholesale handbag business and serves as a key liaison during pre‑production.

Key responsibilities

• Concept and design handbags from initial artwork to final hardware development.
• Produce clear technical specifications for development and production.
• Research market trends, shop retail environments, and engage with consumers to inform designs.
• Apply deep knowledge of handbag construction to solve unique design challenges while managing cost.
• Create repeat prints and hardware from scratch and select appropriate materials (PU, fabrics, ornamentation) for samples.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely shipment according to design plans.
• Present finalized samples as envisioned and handle organizational tasks for the division.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines, and support special projects as assigned.

Required profile

• College degree or related field.
• Minimum 7 + years experience in the fashion handbag industry.
• Strong time‑management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for sketching and print artwork.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to work collaboratively across product categories.
