Grounds Maintenance Assistant (Non-Student)

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello is hiring a non‑student extra help to assist the Building Maintenance department with grounds upkeep. This temporary, fixed‑term role is performed on‑site at the Monticello campus and focuses on maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of the university’s outdoor spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Perform weeding, edging, and trimming of lawns, flower beds, and walkways.
• Dig ditches, fill holes, and carry out other general labor tasks required for landscape maintenance.
• Collect and dispose of yard waste and debris in accordance with campus sustainability practices.
• Assist with seasonal planting, mulching, and irrigation support as directed by the maintenance supervisor.
• Follow safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working outdoors.

Required profile

• Physical stamina to handle manual labor and lift moderate loads.
• Ability to work in hot weather for long periods, particularly during the summer months.
• Dependable attendance and willingness to work flexible shifts, including early mornings or evenings as needed.
• Basic understanding of campus safety and environmental guidelines.
