Full-Time Lecturer – Child Development (Academic Year 2026/27)

About the role

The College of Liberal Arts at Cal Poly seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track Lecturer to teach Child Development courses for the 2026/27 academic year. The appointment begins August 17, 2026 and may be extended for a second year based on budget, departmental need, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach four upper‑division courses each semester, including a course that supervises student research.
• Develop and deliver curriculum in areas such as children and adolescents and technology, interpersonal relationships, and research methods in developmental science.
• Provide undergraduate research supervision and mentorship.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum planning.
• Potentially teach summer courses as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in developmental psychology or related subjects.
• Commitment to undergraduate instruction and Cal Poly’s “Learn by Doing” philosophy.

Required skills

• Knowledge of developmental psychology theories and research methods.
• Ability to design and assess upper‑division coursework.
• Experience supervising undergraduate research projects.
