Full-Time Adult Respiratory Therapist – Days or Nights

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a full‑time Adult Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support to in‑patients and out‑patients of all ages. The position can be scheduled on days or nights and involves direct patient care as well as collaboration with physicians and the care team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
• Draw, analyze and report arterial blood gases and EKGs.
• Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Maintain professional certifications and stay current with technical procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Current state respiratory therapist license.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Computer proficiency with Windows applications and data entry.

Required skills

• Data entry and patient information retrieval.
• Use of Windows‑style software and keyboard.
• Performing oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation.
• Analyzing arterial blood gases and EKGs.
