Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Python) – Remote

About the role

Forward Deployed AI Engineers embed directly with enterprise client teams to uncover genuine AI opportunities, design end‑to‑end solutions, and ensure they survive in production. The role blends consulting, hands‑on engineering, and ongoing operations, requiring both technical depth and business acumen.

Key responsibilities

• Run discovery workshops with business, data, and engineering stakeholders to assess data readiness and separate true AI problems from workflow issues.
• Design agentic systems with robust retrieval architectures, including embeddings, vector/hybrid search, reranking, and knowledge‑graph integration.
• Build and ship production‑grade agents, retrieval services, and evaluation tooling, delivering prototypes that prove value within weeks.
• Own CI/CD pipelines for AI, handling prompt and context versioning, automated evaluation suites, and release gating.
• Operate day‑2 responsibilities such as observability, cost and latency management, drift detection, and handoff to client teams.
• Present technical decisions to senior leadership, quantify impact, and support pre‑sales scoping when needed.

Required profile

• 8‑10+ years of experience across machine learning, data, and software engineering, with a Python‑first, production‑grade background.
• Proven track record delivering LLM‑based agents to production, including retrieval, prompting, and fine‑tuning expertise.
• Strong consulting skills: ability to lead discovery sessions, align stakeholders, and translate technical solutions into business outcomes.
