Field Service Engineer – Cranes (Remote – San Jose, CA)

About the role

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to service STS, RTG and RMG cranes for Liebherr‑America. The role is remote‑based with travel to customer sites, primarily in the United States, and supports installation, testing, maintenance and repair of crane equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure performance and compliance with specifications.
• Repair, replace and overhaul damaged or worn parts using hoists, hand tools and specialized equipment.
• Diagnose defects by operating and inspecting machines, using handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts and pressure gauges.
• Read and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
• Complete required paperwork, reports, timesheets and expense forms.
• Promote a safe work environment and handle hazardous waste according to procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 5 years of direct experience as a Liebherr port equipment technician.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80 % of the time and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends or on‑call as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Crane Management software.
• Experience using handheld computers, motor analyzers and pressure gauges for equipment diagnostics.
