Facilities Engineer - HVAC/Energy Manager

About the role
The Facilities Engineer – HVAC/Energy Manager will lead the planning, implementation, and maintenance of HVAC systems across ICHS facilities while ensuring compliance with Washington State and Seattle energy‑management regulations. Acting as the technical subject‑matter expert, this role drives construction and maintenance projects, manages filter replacements, conducts equipment surveys, and optimizes energy use to reduce costs and carbon emissions.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage HVAC equipment planning, installation, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain building HVAC filters, perform equipment surveys, and follow lock‑out/tag‑out protocols.
- Oversee, analyze, and report on energy consumption, recommending improvements to meet state and city targets.
- Lead construction and retrofit projects involving HVAC and energy‑management upgrades.
- Document and ensure compliance with Washington State and Seattle energy‑management requirements.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or energy engineering preferred.
- Minimum five years of facilities engineering experience with strong knowledge of building automation, HVAC, and energy systems.
- Ability to travel between ICHS sites; valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if using a personal vehicle.
- Preferred certifications: EPA 608 Universal and Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
Required skills
- Building Automation Systems (DesigoCC, DesigoOptic, Insight).
- HVAC systems, including VAV, VRF, MAU, ERV, HEPA, EF.
- Electrical systems, controls, water‑source heat pumps, boilers, cooling towers, and emergency generation equipment.
- Life‑safety systems, chemical treatment, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and air‑filtration knowledge.
- Energy modeling software and energy‑use analysis.
