Experienced Police Patrol Officer

About the role

The City of Jeffersonville is seeking an experienced Patrol Officer to join its Police Department. The incumbent will enforce federal, state and local laws while protecting the community’s safety and property.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor radio and communication devices, respond to distress calls, take statements, and coordinate with social service agencies.
• Conduct traffic stops, verify licenses and registrations, perform breathalyzer and field‑sobriety tests, issue citations or make arrests as warranted.
• Perform proactive and reactive patrols of city streets, maintain high visibility, and investigate suspicious activity.
• Respond to and investigate traffic accidents, document scenes, assist with reconstruction, and provide emergency medical assistance when needed.
• Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic during congestion or special events.

Required profile

• Prior experience as a police officer is mandatory.
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends.
