Events and Furniture System Technician (3 openings)

About the role

The Events and Furniture System Technician provides hands‑on support for academic, social, and cultural events across Georgetown University campuses. Working under a detailed plan, the technician ensures equipment and furniture are safely moved, set up, and broken down while maintaining a clean and organized environment.

Key responsibilities

• Transport, assemble, and disassemble tables, chairs, podiums, stages, coat racks, and other event equipment.
• Install temporary protective flooring such as carpet tiles for special events.
• Perform custodial duties including floor care, classroom and restroom cleaning, and snow/ice removal when needed.
• Operate moving equipment safely, including carts, dollies, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
• Maintain inventory rooms and storage spaces in an organized manner.
• Report missing, broken, or unsafe equipment promptly.

Required profile

• Ability to perform routine lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tasks.
• Willingness to work independently or as part of a small team.
• Commitment to follow safety protocols and university policies.
• Flexibility to respond to emergency situations such as spills, flooding, or snow removal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with power tools.
• Experience operating moving equipment (carts, dollies, hand trucks, pallet jacks).
