Entry-Level Information Security Analyst

About the role

The Information Security Analyst I provides entry‑level support for protecting university data, systems, applications, networks, cloud services, and endpoint devices. Working under the Associate Vice President for Information Security, the analyst assists with routine security tasks and collaborates with the Service Desk and other technology units.

Key responsibilities

• Perform endpoint patching, security monitoring, and vulnerability scanning.
• Document security activities and follow up on tickets in coordination with the Service Desk.
• Support implementation and maintenance of security controls according to established procedures.
• Review logs and assist with security incident triage.
• Assist in maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information assets.

Required profile

• General knowledge of information security principles and concepts.
• Basic understanding of networks, operating systems, and computer systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot routine technical issues and escalate complex problems.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Organizational and analytical skills to prioritize work and interpret technical information.

Required skills

• CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent).
• CompTIA Network+ certification (or equivalent).
• AWS Cloud Practitioner certification (or equivalent).
• Experience with security monitoring and log review.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools.
• Endpoint patching and basic security control implementation.
