Engineering Technician III (T3) – Austin, TX

About the role

Applied Materials seeks an Engineering Technician III to support the design, testing, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems used in semiconductor and display equipment. The role is based in Austin, TX and offers a hands‑on environment where you will contribute to new product introductions and field upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electro‑mechanical design, test, checkout, fabrication and assembly of electronics and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot system‑level and component‑level electrical and mechanical problems using schematics, diagrams and test equipment.
• Execute mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum and process testing on Applied Materials platforms according to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Document test procedures, compile logbooks and generate quality notifications.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all health‑ and safety‑related policies.

Required profile

• Physically demanding work requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, and ability to work in noisy environments and clean‑room conditions.
• Use of personal protective equipment such as coveralls, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, and face shields.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and heavy machinery including forklifts.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical system assembly and troubleshooting.
• Circuit design and prototype testing.
• Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and vacuum testing.
• Interpretation of schematics, diagrams and technical drawings.
• Operation of test fixtures, specialized test equipment and forklifts.
