Engineering Technician – Data Center Cooling

About the role

Moog’s Industrial Group in Christiansburg, Virginia is looking for a motivated Engineering Technician to join the Data Center Cooling design team. The role involves hands‑on support for prototype and pre‑production testing, working closely with design engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in test setup, execution, and documentation of prototype and pre‑production designs.
• Identify, order, and manage parts and tools required for testing.
• Wire industrial panels, connect instrumentation, and configure PLCs or test rigs.
• Execute predefined test procedures and archive results.
• Collect and report data using oscilloscopes, data‑acquisition systems, Python scripts or LabVIEW routines.
• Perform routine calibration of sensors, meters, and test fixtures and maintain inventory of spare parts.
• Assemble and solder PCB components or wiring harnesses for rapid prototyping.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Industrial Controls, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Basic electrical and mechanical repair skills on test equipment.
• Experience with instrumentation design or setup and PLC programming.
• Basic data analysis or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB).
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, data‑acquisition hardware, and LabVIEW.
• Experience in soldering and PCB assembly.
• Familiarity with industrial controls, panel wiring, and calibration standards (ISO, ASTM).
• Competent in report writing and use of MS Office applications.
