About the role
Granite is seeking an Engineer I to provide technical engineering and cost information that ensures construction work complies with all engineering standards. This entry‑level position supports job controls, material management, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with job controls to maintain compliance with contract terms, budget, schedule, and cost forecasting.
- Interpret design drawings for craft workers and ensure specifications are followed.
- Research and resolve drawing interpretation issues, conflicts, and errors.
- Prepare and distribute status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material requirement calculations.
- Provide technical support for material delivery dates, construction schedules, and design requirements to minimize additional costs.
- Create drawings and sketches for change orders and estimates.
- Develop quantity take‑offs, material price lists, labor costs, and equipment data for accurate bids.
- Research historical productivity data to produce summary reports and guidelines for future estimates.
- Maintain organized files of working documents to support bid accuracy.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent technical training and experience).
- 0–2 years of experience in construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or a similar role.
- Working knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, and relevant building standards.
- Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator.
- Strong responsibility, communication, and teamwork skills.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using scheduling software and AGTEK Take‑off software.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction estimating methods and material cost analysis.
