Elevator Inspector (Qualified Elevator Inspector) – Iowa

About the role

Conduct trade‑specific inspections on elevators, escalators, mechanized walkways and other lift machinery to ensure that construction, retrofit or repair work complies with applicable codes, drawings, plans and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform code and quality‑control inspections on various phases of elevator and lift equipment.
• Detect defects or faults in installations, maintenance or operation and recommend remedial measures per jurisdictional requirements.
• Read and interpret equipment operation and installation plans, using standard testing devices to verify compliance.
• Coordinate schedules with service companies and technicians to maximize operational efficiency.
• Work safely on industrial field sites, collaborating with property managers, service companies and the public.

Required profile

• Current Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification.
• Current Florida State License for elevator inspection.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles for elevators, escalators and moving walks.
• Familiarity with the American National Standard Safety Code and related jurisdictional requirements.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and code documents.
• Use of standard testing devices and methods for equipment verification.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Excel and Access.
