Electrochemistry Modeling Intern

About the role

Bosch Research is seeking an intern to support electrochemical modeling projects focused on proton‑exchange‑membrane (PEM) electrolyzers. The intern will help develop computational tools that predict degradation mechanisms and aging kinetics of iridium in the anode catalyst layer under varying operating conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply mesoscale models of thermodynamic, kinetic, and transport phenomena.
• Simulate degradation pathways in PEM electrolyzers and quantify aging rates.
• Collaborate with experimental teams, universities, and national labs to validate model predictions.
• Document findings and contribute to high‑impact publications or patent applications.

Required profile

• Graduate student in applied mathematics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong foundation in computation, mathematics, and fundamentals of electrochemistry, heat transfer, mass transfer, and chemical kinetics.
• Excellent attention to detail, creativity, communication, and teamwork skills.
