About the role
Moog’s Space & Defense Group is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer/Planner to support its Mountain View operation. You will own purchasing and material‑planning activities for high‑mix, low‑volume aerospace programs, turning approved demand into executable purchase and production plans while ensuring supplier performance and on‑time delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze program demand, bills of material, inventory and lead times to develop practical material and production plans.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP parameters (lead times, lot sizes, order policies) for assigned parts and suppliers.
- Create purchase requisitions, purchase orders, work orders and kit requests in line with company processes.
- Generate material‑status, shortage and clear‑to‑build reports for internal stakeholders.
- Manage the end‑to‑end purchase‑order lifecycle for raw materials, components, tooling and special processes.
- Issue RFQs, evaluate bids, perform price analysis and negotiate price, lead time and commercial terms.
- Monitor supplier on‑time delivery, quality and cost performance; coordinate recovery plans and corrective actions.
- Ensure purchase orders contain correct drawing revisions, quality requirements and contractual flow‑downs.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of procurement/planning experience (or equivalent combination).
- Proven experience using an ERP/MRP system in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement fundamentals: RFQs, bid evaluation, purchase‑order administration, supplier negotiations and price analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail when working from bills of material, technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, make decisions with incomplete information and communicate clear recovery actions.
Required skills
- ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Moog Business Systems)
- Microsoft Excel (advanced)
- Power BI or similar analytics tools
- Technical drawing interpretation and GD&T
- Supply‑chain certifications (APICS CPIM/CSCP, ISM CPSM) – preferred
What we offer
- Salary range: $115,000 – $150,000 annually (USD)
