Electrical Commissioning Engineer

About the role

A rapidly growing technology and data center infrastructure company is building large-scale AI infrastructure across the U.S. It is looking for an experienced Commissioning & Field Engineer - Electrical to lead commissioning of critical electrical infrastructure from the utility interface through to the rack. The role is full-time, onsite and field-based, with extensive travel to project sites across the U.S.

Key responsibilities

• Commission electrical distribution systems from the utility interface through to the rack
• Commission and test MV/HV switchgear, UPS systems, generators, EPMS and associated electrical infrastructure
• Develop and run detailed test scripts covering protection systems, transfer schemes and failure scenarios
• Perform and oversee Level 2 to Level 5 commissioning
• Oversee NETA testing and vendor startups, independently verifying equipment and test results
• Run Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and full failure / pull-the-plug scenarios
• Perform megawatt-scale load bank testing
• Review electrical one-lines, protection studies and coordination curves to spot design issues
• Work with vendors and contractors to keep testing standards and schedules on track, and troubleshoot complex electrical systems

Required profile

• Proven experience commissioning electrical systems in mission-critical / data center environments
• Hands-on experience with Level 2 to Level 5 commissioning
• Experience with integrated systems testing and failure testing
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex electrical systems
• Strong vendor and contractor management skills
• Comfortable in fast-paced environments with significant project pressure
• Willingness to travel extensively across the U.S.

Required skills

• Electrical one-line diagrams, protection studies and coordination curves
• Megawatt-scale load bank testing
• Preferred: medium voltage / high voltage systems, EPMS, protective relay testing, utility interconnection, UPS and generator systems, switchgear and power distribution, PE license
