About the role
The State Highway Administration (SHA) is seeking a Division Chief to lead its Homeland Security Division. This senior executive service position oversees all emergency management and homeland security activities for SHA, ensuring readiness and coordination across state and federal partners.
Key responsibilities
- Manage SHA’s homeland security grant program and related reporting.
- Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive emergency operations and continuity of operations plans.
- Lead and supervise the Homeland Security Division staff and serve as liaison to the State Emergency Operations Center.
- Coordinate SHA participation in emergency management exercises, drills, and inter‑agency resource assistance.
- Represent SHA on federal, state, and regional homeland security committees and councils.
- Oversee contract management for security guard services and act as fleet manager for the Office of Homeland Security and Occupational Safety.
- Direct IT security functions, including access‑card reader approvals, CCTV operations, and video monitoring.
- Conduct facility security assessments for all SHA statewide facilities.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in emergency management, homeland security, or related public safety fields.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a government or large‑scale organization.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with state, regional, and federal agencies.
- Experience managing grant programs and large‑scale budgets.
