Part-Time Special Operations Forces (SOF) Subject Matter Expert

About the role

Hoplite Group seeks a Part‑Time Special Operations Forces (SOF) Subject Matter Expert to support a U.S. Government Institutional Capacity Building program. The SME will work remotely from the CONUS and engage forward in OCONUS locations, providing strategic guidance, conflict‑prevention insights, and partnership development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and refining systems and institutions that promote stability and security in conflict‑affected regions.
• Craft operational plans (OPLAN), concepts of operations (CONOP), doctrine, mission essential tasks, and training program designs.
• Lead civil‑military engagement and whole‑of‑government approaches to counter violent extremist organizations (VEO).
• Integrate regional partner communications, analysis, and production capabilities.
• Support partner‑nation development of operating concepts and follow‑on plans.

Required profile

• Retired O‑5/O‑6 with U.S. Army Special Forces or U.S. Marine Corps Raider qualifications and experience in the AFRICOM AOR.
• 10+ years of special‑operations capability knowledge and 5+ years supporting partner‑nation operational concept development.
• Extensive civil‑military engagement and institutional capacity‑building experience.
• 2+ years on OSD, Joint Staff, Combatant Command, or TSOC special‑operations strategy/planning staff.
• 2+ years integrating CIMIC concepts into irregular‑warfare doctrine.
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in Special Operations Forces doctrine and interoperability.
• Experience with OPLAN, CONOP, and training program design.
• Proficiency in civil‑military cooperation (CIMIC) and whole‑of‑government coordination.
• Ability to develop partner‑nation integration for communications and analysis.
