Director of Retail

About the role

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Director of Retail to lead commercial growth and strengthen strategic partnerships across major retail channels for a client in the Philadelphia area. The role will shape go‑to‑market plans, guide revenue performance, and uncover new opportunities with grocery, mass, and club accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a multi‑channel retail strategy covering natural, conventional, mass, and club accounts.
• Set commercial objectives for revenue, distribution and sales productivity, and monitor results via performance dashboards.
• Analyze regional, retailer and category trends to identify untapped growth opportunities.
• Lead annual business planning, including forecasting, trade investment decisions and account‑level growth plans.
• Leverage syndicated market data and internal reporting to support buyer discussions and category storytelling.
• Build and manage senior‑level relationships with key retail partners, leading joint business planning and long‑term account development.
• Oversee the full account lifecycle from prospecting to in‑market execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive CPG retail sales experience.
• Proven success managing national and regional retail accounts across multiple channels.
• Strong analytical judgment and ability to translate market insights into sales strategies.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with CRM systems.
• Familiarity with syndicated data platforms.
