Director of Project Management

About the role

Discovery Life Sciences seeks a seasoned Director of Project Management to lead and harmonize project management activities across its Specialty Lab Services (SLS) portfolio, which includes IHC, Molecular Pathology, Genomics, Proteomics, and Flow Cytometry. The role is an individual contributor position that reports to senior leadership and drives consistent, high‑quality project delivery in a fast‑paced, regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee clinical and scientific project management teams within SLS.
• Create, standardize, and enforce project management processes across multiple laboratories and geographic sites.
• Manage multi‑site, multi‑segment projects from initiation through delivery.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely execution.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency across the SLS business unit.

Required profile

• PhD in a natural science (biology, biochemistry, medicine) preferred; MS with equivalent experience acceptable.
• Project Management certification (PMI or similar) preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in clinical trial services for pharma/biotech, including prospective trials and companion‑diagnostic studies.
• Experience working in a regulated quality system (e.g., GCLP).
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high‑performing team of project managers.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross‑geography collaboration skills.
