About the role
The Director of Operations partners with the Assistant Vice President of Operations and the leadership team to oversee day‑to‑day activities of the distribution center. This senior position drives operational excellence across inventory management, logistics, compliance, and continuous‑improvement initiatives that support the organization’s mission to deliver food to community partners.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop distribution center managers and staff.
- Oversee receiving, storage, inventory management, and outbound distribution.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, OSHA, USDA, Feeding America, and other regulations.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to drive performance and accountability.
- Maintain and improve SOPs, operational procedures, and workflow documentation.
- Drive continuous‑improvement projects to enhance efficiency, quality, and service levels.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve operational challenges and optimize inventory flow.
- Communicate risks, opportunities, and business needs to senior leadership.
Required profile
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing large‑scale distribution, warehouse, or supply‑chain operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in food distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, logistics, or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, procurement, logistics, and distribution processes.
- Proven ability to build cross‑functional partnerships and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives.
