Controller – Multi‑Location Accounting Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing multi‑location organization based in Urbandale, Iowa. The role partners directly with ownership, providing financial insight, strengthening reporting, and guiding operational decisions with accurate data.

Key responsibilities

• Lead core accounting activities across multiple locations, ensuring reliable records and timely month‑end close.
• Prepare clear financial and operational reports to help leadership evaluate results and identify trends.
• Develop forecasting, cash‑flow planning, and performance analysis to support hiring, inventory, logistics, and growth initiatives.
• Manage and enhance NetSuite (or similar ERP) usage to improve reporting quality, pricing accuracy, and inventory tracking.
• Create dashboards, scorecards, and executive summaries for strategic planning.
• Coordinate payroll, benefits, tax, and administrative workflows while maintaining consistency.
• Document procedures, organize deadlines, and establish repeatable processes.
• Provide training and workflow guidance to promote system adoption.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Controller or comparable accounting leadership role.
• Strong background in month‑end close, financial statement preparation, and multi‑location accounting oversight.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to organize workflows, document processes, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
