About the role

The Chief of Service, Finance leads the Contributions and Cost Recovery Service within the Finance Division of the UN Secretariat. Reporting to the Division Director and functionally to the Controller, this senior position ensures the effective management of shared cost recovery funds for regular and peacekeeping budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement the work programme of the Contributions and Cost Recovery Service.
• Oversee UN Secretariat shared cost recovery funds, ensuring timely assessments and compliance with policy.
• Coordinate activities across the Division, Department, and other UN bodies, providing substantive reviews of drafts.
• Provide guidance to service providers on cost‑recovery issues and represent the Controller in relevant UN working groups.
• Review and approve cost‑recovery rates for inclusion in the UN consolidated service catalogue (Umoja).
• Monitor inflows, expenditures, and liquidity of assessed contributions and cost‑recovery funds.
• Support the Committee on Contributions and prepare reports for intergovernmental bodies such as the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budget Questions and the General Assembly.
