Controller – Manufacturing Finance Leader

About the role

The Controller will lead all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance for a mid‑size manufacturing organization. Working closely with operations, supply chain, and executive leadership, the role provides financial insight to drive cost control and support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Oversee standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Partner with plant leadership to improve operational efficiency and margins.
• Lead annual budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting, providing variance analysis.
• Support capital expenditure planning and ROI analysis.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Manage and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
• Optimize ERP system usage and drive automation in accounting processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5+ years in manufacturing.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Visual ERP, Epicor or similar).
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Data analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL databases, SSRS.
