Control Systems Engineer – Manufacturing Automation

About the role

3M is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join its roofing granule manufacturing team in Corona, CA. The role involves applying a range of control technologies to improve plant operations and support capital projects.

Key responsibilities

• Apply AC/DC motion control, digital and analog systems, PID and PLC control, data acquisition, and interactive operator/machine interfaces.
• Manage program formats, change processes, and procedures specific to the location.
• Provide in‑plant support to Plant Engineering staff for control issue resolution and improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate work activities with local and remote IT support and with Project Engineering resources on capital projects.
• Participate actively in plant Safety, Health, Environmental, and Six Sigma Lean processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (completed prior to start).
• Minimum five years of experience with PLC programming, HMI development, industrial controls, and automation systems.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• PLC programming (including Schneider Concept, Control Expert, ACP Thin Manager).
• HMI development and interactive operator/machine interfaces.
• Digital and analog control systems, motion control, PID control.
• Data acquisition, systems integration, and commissioning.
• Experience with Wonderware real‑time operations management software.
• Knowledge of mining and industrial rock processing equipment.
