Community Outreach Specialist

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Community Outreach Specialist to strengthen connections with refugee and immigrant communities in the Louisville metropolitan area. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will help identify eligible clients, build partnerships, and support the successful resettlement of humanitarian immigrant families.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct proactive outreach within refugee and immigrant communities to raise awareness of IRC’s resettlement and support programs.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with community leaders, cultural groups, and informal networks.
• Identify newly arrived or underserved individuals and families who may qualify for IRC services.
• Provide clear information on services, eligibility criteria, and enrollment processes.
• Represent IRC at community events, fairs, and meetings to promote services and recruit new clients.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to manage an active intern and volunteer program.
• Handle administrative duties for volunteer processing, including background checks, hours tracking, and documentation.
• Update and develop resources to manage the volunteer and intern lifecycle.

• Strong organizational skills for coordinating volunteer activities and documentation.
