Community Engagement and Events Manager

About the role

The Community Engagement and Events Manager supports Connecticut Public’s statewide community engagement strategy by planning events, building partnerships, and fostering direct relationships with diverse communities. Reporting to the Vice President of Community Engagement, the role combines event management with outreach to historically underserved audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Gather community insights and feed them into strategy, event concepts, and partnership opportunities.
• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, libraries, nonprofits, and local businesses.
• Plan and execute event logistics, including venue selection, catering, A/V, speaker travel, and on‑site coordination.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Digital, and Social Media teams to promote events and evaluate engagement outcomes.
• Manage vendor contracts, invoicing, and post‑event surveys to measure impact and inform future initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience working with community‑based organizations, nonprofits, or public‑media partners.
• Strong project‑management abilities, attention to detail, and capacity to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and ability to build trust with diverse audiences.
• Self‑motivated, initiative‑driven, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
