Communications Associate

About the role

The Communications Associate will join Lenox Hill Neighborhood House’s Communications, Development and Administration teams to help shape and share the organization’s story. Working across multiple sites on Manhattan’s East Side, you will create inclusive content that highlights the diverse clients and programs served.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to all Neighborhood House locations to photograph, record, and document programs and events.
• Draft creative content such as email and print newsletters, flyers, brochures, invitations, fundraising materials, press releases, and special‑project copy.
• Develop and schedule social‑media posts for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and BlueSky.
• Produce video content tailored to various audiences and distribution channels.
• Maintain and update the organization’s website, monitor web presence, and support SEO initiatives, keyword research, Google Ads and Analytics.
• Identify and outreach to press outlets to secure coverage of programs and events.
• Catalog and manage the internal photo/video archive, including historic assets.
• Provide administrative and operational support for community and volunteer events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, media, journalism or a related field.
• At least one year of professional experience in communications or marketing.
• Strong written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive, flexible, and able to multitask in both independent and collaborative settings.
• Passionate commitment to social‑justice and the nonprofit mission.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as program needs dictate.
