About the role
The Commissioning Engineer leads electrical and mechanical commissioning and retro‑commissioning activities across assigned projects, covering design review, field verification, functional testing, issue resolution, reporting and final system turnover. The role acts as a key technical resource and liaison among internal teams, contractors, vendors and client stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate, test and troubleshoot emergency generators, UPS systems, PDUs, panel boards, switchboards, transformers, VFDs and lighting control systems to verify performance and readiness.
- Interpret and validate electrical drawings and schematics, trace systems, and support commissioning analysis and reporting.
- Lead or execute functional and integrated systems testing, ensuring compliance with project procedures and test protocols.
- Evaluate, test and troubleshoot RTUs, chillers, AHUs, CRACs, CRAHs, VRF and split systems, pumps and water heaters to confirm commissioning readiness.
- Interpret and validate mechanical drawings and schematics, trace systems, and support commissioning analysis and reporting.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive commissioning, field engineering or systems testing experience (6‑15 years preferred).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Industry‑recognized certifications or active progress toward certifications such as CxA, CCP, BCxP, CEM, PE, NICET, NFPA‑related credentials.
Required skills
- Proficiency with cloud‑based commissioning/reporting platforms (e.g., CxAlly, Facility Grid).
- Technical expertise in testing electrical equipment: generators, UPS, PDUs, panel boards, switchboards, transformers, VFDs, lighting control systems.
- Technical expertise in testing mechanical equipment: RTUs, chillers, AHUs, CRACs, CRAHs, VRF, split systems, pumps, water heaters.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Competence in using computers and electronic tablets for data collection, word processing, spreadsheets and project management software.
