Clinical Pharmacist

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients across the Duke University Health System. Working in a rotating PRN schedule, you will ensure safe, effective medication therapy, support clinicians, and contribute to education and research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Review and monitor patient medication orders for safety, efficacy, and appropriateness.
• Prepare, label, and dispense medications in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain accurate dispensing records and oversee medication charge/credit systems.
• Provide drug information and education to caregivers, patients, and students.
• Collect data, generate reports, and recommend improvements to medication processes.
• Ensure availability, proper procurement, storage, and handling of all medications.
• Supervise technical staff involved in medication preparation and dispensing.
• Support investigational drug programs, including preparation, labeling, and documentation.

Required profile

• Pharmacy degree and active pharmacist licensure in the United States.
• Experience in a hospital or health‑system pharmacy setting.
• Strong knowledge of medication therapy management and drug regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
