Childhood Development Assistant

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an Early Childhood Development Assistant to supervise and support infants, toddlers, and children under five during regular business hours. The role involves providing a safe environment while parents participate in English language instruction and resettlement services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a safe, supportive environment for children with parents on‑site.
• Deliver age‑appropriate activities and lessons.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary space, including daily set‑up and clean‑up.
• Oversee and delegate tasks to community volunteers serving as childcare assistants.
• Engage parents and emergency services in case of emergencies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
• CPR/First Aid certification for children or willingness to obtain it after hire.
• Prior childcare experience; early childhood education experience preferred.
• Experience working with immigrants or refugees is a plus.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills beneficial.
