Chemist II – RNA Synthesis

About the role

The Chemist II – RNA Synthesis will support oligonucleotide production and downstream processing in a fast‑paced consumer‑products laboratory. The role involves operating synthesizers, purification systems, and automation equipment while ensuring data quality and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform synthesis, cleavage, deprotection, purification, desalting and annealing of oligonucleotides using Dr. Oligo and MerMade 192 synthesizers.
• Operate and maintain downstream instruments such as AKTA, LC‑MS, UPLC, LTQ, QDA and Lynx liquid handler.
• Prepare solutions, conduct bioconjugation, and record detailed experimental data in electronic lab notebooks.
• Train new staff, troubleshoot technical issues, and stay current with emerging oligonucleotide methods.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field.
• At least one year of experience with oligonucleotide chemistry or plate‑based automation development.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and follow safety and quality regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with oligonucleotide synthesizers (Dr. Oligo, MerMade 192).
• Experience using automation platforms such as Tecan, Lynx, Dispendix, Hamilton or Beckman.
• Hands‑on expertise with analytical instruments: AKTA, Agilent LC‑MS, UPLC, Vanquish LTQ, Waters QDA, Nanodrop.
• Use of instrument‑specific software, LIMS, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams/SharePoint) and electronic lab notebooks.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools for data interpretation.
