Brewer I – Production Brewer

About the role

Join the Devils Backbone Outpost Taproom team to operate a state‑of‑the‑art 120‑barrel brewing system. You will work in a collaborative environment focused on quality, safety and continuous improvement, contributing to award‑winning beers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the 120‑barrel automated brewing system, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, hop additions, whirlpool and wort cooling.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑cleaning and sanitation of all transfer lines and vessels, and manage cellar tasks such as yeast pitching, filtration, beer transfers and tank CIP.
• Maintain brewing equipment and facilities, assist maintenance technicians, and follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
• Monitor electronic and computerized brew systems, keep accurate production records, and ensure compliance with SOPs and federal requirements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum two years of brewing experience as an assistant brewer or brewer.
• Ability to lift 50 lb routinely and up to 150 lb occasionally; comfortable standing for long periods.
• Willingness to work five 8‑hour shifts per week, including rotating morning, evening and overnight shifts.

Required skills

• Forklift operation (training provided).
• Pallet jack operation.
• Automated brewing system operation and monitoring.
• Clean‑in‑Place (CIP) procedures for tanks and equipment.
• Handling of hazardous chemicals and use of personal protective equipment.
• Interpretation of technical bulletins and equipment schematics.
