About the role
As a Manufacturing Engineer at 3M in Lexington, you will collaborate with global teams to drive safety, quality, service, and productivity improvements. The position offers a pathway for professionals from private, public, government, or military backgrounds to transition into a manufacturing engineering career.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement improvements related to safety, quality, service, and productivity.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot equipment downtime and resolve issues.
- Identify capital‑expenditure improvement opportunities, build business cases, and manage projects to completion.
- Participate in day‑to‑day operations, EHS activities, MOC change management, OEE analysis, and performance gap resolution.
- Lead continuous‑improvement projects using project‑management tools to define objectives, timelines, and next steps.
- Perform root‑cause analysis, defect troubleshooting, and develop process standards and documentation.
- Provide engineering support for assigned areas, including occasional night/weekend availability.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment (private, public, government, or military).
- Experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role with process equipment is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams through complex projects.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
