Associate Attorney - General Liability and Complex Litigation

About the role

Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is hiring an Associate Attorney for its General Liability and Complex Litigation team in the Chicago office. The practice handles sophisticated, high-exposure matters such as product liability, catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, pharmaceutical and professional negligence, transportation, construction defects and other complex civil litigation. The position is hybrid, with two in-office days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an active litigation caseload with partner guidance and support
• Draft pleadings, motions, written discovery and other litigation filings
• Take and defend depositions, appear in court and take part in mediations and arbitrations
• Handle day-to-day case strategy and client communication
• Work on complex, high-stakes matters for sophisticated national clients
• Gain hands-on experience in all phases of litigation, from trial to resolution

Required profile

• Active license to practice law in Illinois; Indiana license desirable
• Minimum of 2 years of civil defense litigation experience
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Preferred: trial experience, federal court experience, mediation and arbitration experience, dual licensure in another jurisdiction
