Associate Attorney – Consumer Protection & Complex Litigation

About the role

We are seeking a CA‑barred litigation associate to join a DC/AZ law firm that initiates lawsuits against defendant companies across consumer protection and complex litigation verticals. The role partners with Chariot Claims, an AI‑driven claims agent, to scale plaintiff‑side litigation using technology.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Mensch team to fine‑tune demand letters, ensuring statutory accuracy, factual citations, theory alignment, and compliance with terms of service before mass distribution.
• Partner with co‑counsel to run plaintiff‑side mass arbitration campaigns end‑to‑end, including pre‑suit demands, dispute notices, AAA/JAMS filings, IDRs, and settlement negotiations.
• Serve as a substantive authority on case strategy, redlines, and filings, evaluating new case theories in consumer protection, privacy, UDTP, data breach, false advertising, and other complex litigation verticals.
• Help refine the case‑evaluation playbook, designing frameworks, conducting reviews, and codifying processes for repeatable scale.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Chariot’s Legal Ops, Data, and Engineering teams to improve case pipelines and demand‑letter quality.

Required profile

• J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (preferably California).
• Approximately five years of complex litigation experience at a reputable law firm (Big Law or a well‑regarded plaintiffs’ boutique).
• Direct experience with consumer‑protection, UDTP, privacy, data‑breach, or false‑advertising theories is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to conduct deep, careful review of legal drafts.
• Mission‑oriented mindset with a desire to hold corporations accountable.
