Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

About the role

Cal Poly Pomona's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, within the College of Engineering, is hiring two tenure-track Assistant Professors to begin in Fall 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the university's learn-by-doing approach, build a research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, and teach introductory and advanced courses while advising students.

Key responsibilities

• Teach introductory and advanced courses in Electrical or Computer Engineering and assist in curriculum development.
• Advise students and serve on department, college and university committees.
• Engage in professional activities and support the academic mission through university service.
• Establish a research program and seek funding for applied research projects.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field, conferred by the start date of the position.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and evidence of ongoing scholarly research, including peer-reviewed publications.
• Commitment to the IEEE Code of Ethics and to inclusion and equity in higher education.
• Preferred: teaching experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering, professional engineering work experience, and experience developing applied research programs, including contracts and grants, preferably as PI or co-PI.

Required skills

• Ability to teach a broad range of courses and develop innovative lecture and laboratory curricula.
• Potential to establish industrial collaborations.
• Excellent communication skills.
