Assistant Director, Public Interest Careers

About the role

The Assistant Director, Public Interest Careers will support Georgetown Law students in identifying and pursuing public‑interest opportunities across summer, academic term, and post‑graduation phases. Reporting to the Director of the Summer Team, the role blends counseling, program design, and community building.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualized career counseling to law students, with a focus on historically under‑represented groups.
• Review and improve resumes, cover letters, and interview strategies.
• Design and deliver communications (emails, listservs) and programs that educate students about public‑interest career paths.
• Administer the public‑service summer funding program.
• Collaborate with Georgetown offices, student groups, and external organizations.
• Develop relationships with employers, alumni, and participate in recruitment events.

Required profile

• J.D. degree.
• At least 5 years of experience in law‑school career advising, government, or public‑interest organizations.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and cultural sensitivity.
• Experience counseling or coaching individuals on career decisions.
• Strong communication, listening, and relationship‑building abilities.
