Assistant Director, Housing Operations and Facility Services

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Assistant Director to oversee day‑to‑day operations of its residential building portfolio. This position ensures that all housing spaces are maintained, ready for occupancy, and meet university standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead coordination of maintenance, repairs, housekeeping, landscaping, pest control and laundry services across all residential buildings.
• Supervise and schedule 6‑8 student employees supporting operations.
• Develop and manage inspection schedules, move‑in/move‑out readiness timelines, and warehouse inventory processes.
• Oversee the “Cruise Ship Move‑In” program and collaborate with off‑campus vendors.
• Monitor work orders in the Salesforce platform, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
• Manage vendor contracts, budget tracking, and crisis on‑call duties for emergency situations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Construction Management or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum three years of progressive experience in university housing or residential operations, including coordination of maintenance and contracted services.
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem‑solving abilities with experience managing multiple priorities.
• Experience developing policies, procedures and service standards for facilities operations.
