AmeriCorps ESL Education Member (Adult Education)

About the role

The Education AmeriCorps member will join the Adult Education team to support newly arrived adult refugees and immigrants in achieving their English language and career goals. This service‑based role reports to the Education & Learning Program Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing English classes, including enrollment, pre‑ and post‑assessments, and client intake.
• Deliver English instruction, develop curriculum, and differentiate lessons to meet diverse learner needs.
• Coordinate volunteers such as childwatch staff, tutors, teaching assistants, and teachers.
• Document attendance, enrollment, assessments, and other program data.
• Collaborate with community partners to align services with client needs.
• Support orientations, intakes, and provide lesson plans to volunteers.
• Facilitate information sessions and provide follow‑up support to ensure ongoing participation.
• Participate in program meetings, development activities, and assist staff with data entry and scheduling.

Required profile

• Commit to completing 900 service hours by August 31 2026.
• Demonstrated interest in education or social work.
• Strong written and spoken English communication; bilingual ability in a predominant local language is strongly desired.
• Experience working in multicultural environments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency.
